I got introduced to debating quite early in life, in a playful manner, through the intraclass debates in school. In Grade 6, I first participated in Greenwood High International School debate and won a prize. I realized that I liked both the research as well as the speaking part of debating. Soon I started looking for opportunities to participate in Debate Competitions.
World Scholars Cup (WSC) and MUNs gave me extensive opportunities to hone my skill and I was soon attending WSC every year and attending most of the reputed MUNs in the city. In WSC for 3 years in a row, 2017, 2018 and 2019, me along with my team has won multiple medals for debating. In MUNs I have won many accolades including Best Delegate, Outstanding Delegate etc. While debate outside of school was not commonly available, along came Melio who started organizing many debates at national and international level and I was almost a regular. In Melio also I have won a multitude of awards right from ‘Best Voice Modulation’ to ‘Best Speaker.’
Debating has not just improved my speaking skills, but also my logical thinking and my analytical capability and has helped me eradicate my stage fright.
