Internships

In the summer of 2021, I did an internship with Simply Fresh, one of the largest precision farming company in India using hydroponics. Most of my work was around Market Research, both International and local, focused on the hydroponics market, analysing its growth across different countries. It also included an analysis of Simply Fresh and its competitors, both in India and abroad and a detailed price / product comparison of various hydroponics companies across the world. Finally, I was required to summarise a 100 page document on the current global food system and why a change is required therein. I understood, in depth, the shortages and challenges of the current food system, such as increase in greenhouse gas emissions, excessive use of water, etc.

My research fed into the strategy and planning exercise of the company and was very much appreciated by the leadership team.

In SimplyFresh, I learnt about the Hydroponics market, how it works and how it is different from the regular vegetable market. I also got the first opportunity to apply my theoretical knowledge of Market Research into practice.

In the Spring of 2023, I did an internship with Quest Global, a renowned Engineering Design company. My work primarily was on 2 projects. The first one was targeted towards one of their largest clients, with whom their regular process of continuous improvement survey did not work as expected. So I was asked to create a customised process and template for the survey to fit the nuances of this client. I studied the client, their project and the team construct. I interviewed the key members of the project team to understand why they think that their tried and tested project didn’t work for this client and based on these I came up with a revised process and revised template. The team appreciated the output, particularly the uniqueness in my solutions.

My second project was to create a resource optimization model. I worked on a Resource Optimization process for another leader, where again I understood the nuances and then using my experience of resource management, 3rd party research and applying my common sense, I created a Resource Optimization process document highlighting best practices of Resource Optimization for any Project Manager. I learnt about technology and engineering project management techniques, I learnt about continuous improvement and I also learnt about how to plan the most cost effective project.
