Dance

My dance journey started when I was just about 4 and a half years old.  In my Day Care, I loved watching the older kids practising Bharatnatyam for the Annual Day and being a small child, I was asked to dance to a Bollywood number. I wanted to move to Bharatnatyam but I was denied the option as I had never learnt it.  I came back home and requested my parents to put me in a Bharatnatyam class.  And they did….thus started my journey.  What started off as fun, became my biggest passion.

I look back into my journey of Bharatnatyam with respect, gratitude and fun, a journey where I could nurture my talent and overcome my inhibitions with the help of my Gurus who have shaped me to what I am today. Since I was a little kid I have been performing in my dance schools, social gatherings and in my academic school events where I would even choreograph and guide.  I am grateful to my schools and my dance teachers for giving me the opportunity to grow as a dancer After 11 years of passionately learning and practising the art, I had my debut solo performance in Bharatanatyam (Arangetram) in August 2022 that was initially planned in 2020 but postponed due to Covid.  I have 100+ performances to my credit, including group and solo ones and aspire to continuously learn and perform. I have also been accredited by Indian Raga (https://indianraga.com) with a fellowship, offering me opportunities to perform on their prestigious platform.

Introducing Bharatnatyam at Neev (NGO): Introducing Bharatnatyam at Neev (NGO): Bharatanatyam is an ancient Indian classical dance form that is becoming less inclusive due to its long , traditional journey and the expenses involved. A lot of kids who are less privileged than I am, do not get an opportunity to interact with this amazing dance form. So, I started looking for opportunities to introduce Bharatanatyam to them when I found Neev, a NGO for under-priviledged kids. Since Jan 2023, I began my exciting journey with Neev of teaching Bharatanatyam to their adorable kids.
